Almost identical to the FP591, 15in model (previous page), the BenQ FP791 is everything the little model is, although we actually found it to be slightly more.
The main differentiator with the two is obviously the screen real estate. When you have the gorgeous brightness and contrast boasted by these new BenQ screens, that extra display size has major advantages.
Mainly, it just gives you more, but with its 16ms response times the FP791 chewed through DVD and 3D without a hint of display lag and looked fabulous doing in the process. This monitor not only has crisp and bright colours, but it also displayed near-perfect black-levels, which adds to the versatility of the screen, especially when using it for viewing movies.
Even though the FP791 boasts extremely broad brightness and contrast ranges, we did note some ghosting with high colour contrasts. Although this shouldn’t present much of a problem in day-to-day usage, it should be mentioned.
The FP791 also comes with a nifty card reader device, which slides into a niche at the top of the display. With slots for Compact Flash, SD and MMC cards, it allows you to insert your digital photography media and convert the monitor into a digital photo frame, with static or slideshow capabilities.
Aside from the leisure aspects, the display was also highly capable when displaying extremely tiny text, spreadsheets or just the Desktop.
