It's a fair guess that if you're a frequent burner of optical media that you have more than a few scratched or dirty discs that can no longer be read by your drive.
Dr. Fix It is a CD cleaning and repair kit that is designed to make your dirty and scratched discs readable again. It's not a new concept, but Dr. Fix It takes the manual cleaning and polishing part out and fully automates the process; insert the correct pads (cleaning, polishing or heavy cleaning), drop on some fluid, insert the disc, close the lid and press the button.
After a while (it depends on how dirty/scratched your disc is), Dr Fix It stops running and the disc is ready. We found that after a repair there was a lot of liquid film and smears covering the disc surface. A quick wipe clean suffices, but your drive can read through the slick anyway.
Dr. Fix It works with all forms of optical media including CD, DVD and burnt media, and at $88, it only has to repair four unplayable audio CDs or three DVD movies to pay for itself.
