Western Digitals new 8MBbuffer line of Caviar drives proved to be a tough act to match. Despite having a large capacity, clocking in at 120GB, the WD1200JB managed to top the performance charts in every SYSmark2002 test, and was a clear five points ahead of the next nearest competitor in the overall score.
It performed particularly well in Office Productivity, which demonstrated a good response time for day-to-day tasks involving random disk access and it is also reasonably priced at only $3.33/GB, which clearly rivals Maxtors 160GB 5,400rpm drive. If you want performance above all else, with plenty of capacity, then you cant get much better than the Caviar SE.
