Those readers who are familiar with the culture of the hard-core gamer/
overclocker, will know exactly the meaning behind the name of this card. You will notice the Thermaltake Blue Orb chipset cooler over the standard GeForce3 GPU, which requires a separate power connector on the motherboard and nullifies the PCI slot below. You will also recognise the individual copper-based RAM sinks on each RAM module to provide the best possible cooling, which in turn ensures the highest possible overclocking potential. Essentially, the Titan 3 is a custom-built GeForce3 graphics card designed to push the limits of gaming performance.
The Titan 3 also differentiates itself in terms of clock speed. By default, the GPU core is clocked at 215MHz 15MHz faster than stock and features very fast RAM running at 515MHz, which is quicker than the default speed of RAM on the Ti 500 models. Our benchmarks show that the Titan 3 is fast enough to nip at the heels of the GeForce3 Ti 500 cards at these default clock speeds. Using a third-party utility like NVMax, the Labs team ran the Titan 3 at significantly higher clock speeds, and were able to achieve Q3A results that bettered the Speed Award winner, the MSI G3Ti500 Pro-VTG.
