What we neglected to include in this cards product title is VIVO Golden Sample. VIVO stands for video-in, video-out, although our review sample came only with a TV-out port.
Despite the somewhat dubious branding the GeForce2 Ti cards are not actually Ti 500 cards, hence the inclusion of the forward slash in the name - Gainward is an old stalwart in the graphics game even though it doesnt enjoy a big profile here. This does not reflect on the performance of Gainward cards; for example, the Gainward GeForce2 GTS posted quicker results than our Labs Speed Winner in the last 3D round-up, the Hercules GeForce2 GTS (October 2000, page 80).
Of the three GeForce2 Ti cards reviewed, the Gainward slotted into the middle across all tests. The differences between these cards are negligible, however. To provide some perspective, these cards will perform almost as well as a GeForce2 Ultra although they do have a slightly lower video bandwidth of 6.4GB/s. In the benchmarks the Gainward reveals that it is no slouch, posting a solid 60.7fps in the High Quality 1,024 Quake III: Arena test, and will serve more than adequately as a budget card with solid gaming performance.
