Unfortunately, this might be the last consumer graphics card we see from the quality German card manufacturer Elsa, which is planning to focus on the professional graphics market. Although not quite as fast as the Morpheus GeForce3 - the other stock GeForce3 in the round-up - the Elsa Galdiac 920 is nonetheless a top GeForce3 card from a well-respected card maker.
Following closely the reference design for a GeForce3, the quality of the Elsa card really shows up in the strength of the PCB, which exhibits very little flex. Elsa has also adopted the trend towards aesthetics, with the PCB coloured a funky black, along with the cooling fan and heatsink that covers the GPU and RAM.
The performance of the Gladiac is consistent across the board, achieving results that would be expected of its specifications. It posted a very solid 90.2fps in the Quake III: Arena High Quality 1,024 test as well as an eminently playable 41.3fps in the same test with FSAA enabled.
The one problem with the Elsa card is its price. At $968 it is overpriced for a card that has recently been superseded. If the price was to drop to a reasonable level, then the Elsa would most definitely be a good buy.
