It's a rarity in Labs that one unit takes home both Quality and Value Awards, but the Philips 150P2E provides everything you'd want for just about any task at an affordable price.
If you look at the scores, it may appear that the 150P2E is light on features and heavy on quality and value, but Philips has been careful to provide what should be considered necessary requirements. DVI and analog are catered for as well as the somewhat specialist 901/4 pivot capability, and though the 45ms pixel response time is relatively high, we were unable to detect any indication of sluggish screen refresh beyond that of the competitors.
Where the Sony SDMM51 took the prize for least mechanical deviation, the 150P2E wins the overall quality tests due to superior DisplayMate results across all fronts. While it's hard to pick any single standout results, colour scales and primary colours showed excellent purity and contrast making it ideal for graphical tasks where accurate colour matching and resolution is required.
Although other screens offer more features, better viewing angles, protective glass, and audio capability, the quality and price of the 150P2E ensure that there's little reason not to put it on your Christmas list.
