MP3 fans will either love or hate the Cowon D2+ design, a player squarely aimed at the iPod crowd - but with more multimedia options that most Apple offerings for the same price.

The D2+ comes in 4GB, 8GB or 16GB models, each of which also has an SDHC card slot. The 2.5in, 320 x 240 touchscreen has some extremely small buttons that are tricky to poke at without a stylus - which, although included, you can't store in the device. Usage pains aside, the features are impressive. It supports WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV and MP3, plus XviD and WMV video. The screen is too small to watch movies, but it's much better for JPEG and BMP files. There's an FM tuner, as well as the ability to record broadcasts; it can also record from its integrated microphone or the 3.5mm headphone jack, which doubles as a line-in. Price-wise, it compares well to the iPod nano, but the better-looking nano is considerably more enjoyable to use.
