See why this relatively unknown, but simple, efficient and affordable package holds its own against the likes of AVG, Norton, Kaspersky and McAfee.

"Threats always pour out there,, Good thing I have this umbrella,,"

Pros:
Highly reliable yet cheap.

Cons:
Clean/repair is part of scan/detection action but I cannot use it. To quarantine or delete should not be the only choice.
A cousin visiting from Hongkong for a week's vacation introduced me to AntiVir a few years ago with his spectacular story of his PC escaping a virus spreading online. The umbrella taskbar icon made a mark in my mind up to this day. I used Avira Premium Sec Suite side-by-side with Norton Internet Sec product that ships with my recently acquired HP Desktop and these 2 reported same malware detections. In the context of internet security, however, Avira performed superbly in detecting and blocking unwanted packets while the Norton software quietly fades in the background.

"I agree, Avira is a worthwhile alternative"

Pros:
Caught viruii that the others missed. Relatively better value for money. Minimal visible interuption to computer use.

Cons:
You are forced to donate part of cost to daughter company regardless of whether you want to support it or not.
I have been using Avira for a few years now and am generally pleased with its performance after being disillusioned by Norton because it takes control of my computer away from me, by McAfee because of lousy after sales service, and by AVG because of their overpriced product. Each of these other brands allowed viruii into my system at one stage or another, only Avira has been mostly secure over past few years.

A powerful and capable suite with some excellent features, although it isn’t the easiest to use, nor the cheapest around.

We've been impressed with Norton 360 - security for those who want something simple but effective. We're also impressed with the changes in Norton Internet Security 2009. So how does Norton 360 version 3.0 stack up?
