AMD Phenom II vs Intel Core i7: benchmark results

As you can see from the performance table, Core i7 is still a safe bet in terms of sheer speed, though the case for AMD is not as simple as that.

It's barely two months since the mighty Core i7 tore up our CPU performance records, but already AMD is fighting back. We've had its most powerful desktop CPU yet, the Phenom II in the lab, and our benchmark results are in this month's March 2009 issue of PC Authority.

Here's some of the juicy numbers from our full labs test. Intel is still ahead in terms of sheer speed, but as our full article explains the full AMD vs Intel story is not so clear cut. Stay tuned for more.
