I love OpenOffice. it's quick, does the job. But I agree about the lack of polish - OpenOffice still struggles with basic job like table formatting, which seems like a small thing, but means that I can't use this for any serious work. I'd be interested to find out more about how the team prioritise features and big fixes for each release - it seems so many good open source projects miss out on widespread appeal because they can't see the forest for the trees.
