1. Extremely good value for money, in good service areas.
2. In good service areas, the speed is very good (but not as good as the best).
1. There was one period of about 1 hour where my connection kept dropping out. This has been the only no-go time in 1 month.
2. Some areas have poor speed.
3. SOME areas have extremely poor speed and high congestion.
4. Watch your usage - excess costs $!
Very good value for money, provided you are in a good service area.
Download speeds are up to about 2.5 Mbits/sec.
Upload speeds are typically 5-20% of the download speed.
Many areas in Sydney have acceptable to good service. Some areas have service that is sometimes WORSE than a modem.
Sydney Areas tested:
Gordon (90%+ signal): Very fast most of the time (1-2.5 Mb/s download).
Crows Nest (40% signal): Acceptable (300-1500 Kb/s)
Leonay (20% signal, right on the edge of the broadband map): Acceptable (100-1500 Kb/s).
Parramatta: Good
North Ryde (20% signal): acceptable sometimes, frequently attrocious (slower than modem, response delays up to 15 sec waiting for a turn at the comms channel). Download speeds 10-1500 Kb/s (YES, that IS 10 Kbit/sec!).
Try to borrow a dongle off a friend and try it in your areas before you buy. You may be pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised!
