Logitech has rebranded its MP3 audio products under the ‘Pure-Fi’ moniker, and this, the Pure-Fi Anywhere, is its revamped portable to replace the fine mm50 model, which is being phased out slowly.
There are a few key changes, not least in the sleek new design. There’s now a battery-life indicator that tells you how much power is left – the rechargeable battery lasts for an impressive 10 hours – plus a travel case with room for the remote, AC adapter and even a nano. An improved remote includes one-touch shuffle and repeat buttons. The dock works with Apple’s universal connector, so all iPods are compatible, while there’s a line-in connection on the back of the machine for other players, too.
Loads of fun on the move
Sonically, the Anywhere sounds every bit as impressive as its mm50 predecessor. For such a small machine, it produces a surprisingly broad, weighty sound that happily fills our largest testing room. It boasts good detail and timing, too, while even straight out of the box there’s no sign of the all-too-common harshness found in many of these products.
This is the real deal: a truly portable MP3 speaker system that looks smart and sounds the part.
