My laptop has refused to recognise the external unit when I wish to update. This morning my laptop refused to respond and Microsoft advises problem with mini maxtor driver. I find the Seagate website too complicated and involved to get an appropriate answer.

Hey jona, I'm assuming you're connecting it to a vista machine? Does it show up in explorer? I'm using XP but I think the story is the same.
Right click the drive in explorer, select properties, click the tools tab and click error checking.
With a bit of luck it'll sort out your problems. |
