A phone with a personality crisis, but although it’s no iPhone it makes an interesting choice for business users

"Keep clear of the HTC Touch Dual - "

Pros:
Function rich, Mobile Windows features. Good while it works

Cons:
Failed after 13 months and retailer (RYDA.COM)and manufacturer (HTC) refuse to stand by their claims of quality.
The quality of the phone is garbage. After 13 months, the phone needed repairs. The retailer (Ryda.Com) refused any consideration even though it was so close to coming out of warranty. So avoid Ryda.Com as a retailer. HTC themselves have also refused to help out in spite of agreeing that it is unreasonable to expect the HTC to require repairs. Numerous attempts were made to contact HTC service without success. In short, I have a Mobile/PDA costing $800 that is trashed after 1 year in operation. Legally, this is in breach of the Trade Practices Act (s71 & 74 - merchantable quality) My recommendation is to avoid this mobile like the plague unless you want to have an expensive experience.

"It feels great in your hands"

Pros:
Nice Keyped
Great Data Access features

Cons:
WiFi not present
Slow processing
The best thing i liked in touch dual is the feel of the phone, the design is very sleek, when i first saw it at viptel the same day i bought it..only one concern the smartphones today must have Wi-Fi

"Great phone for the business or high end personal user"

Pros:
High speed data access with NextG.
Very user configurable & customisable.
Can be used as a modem via BT or USB.

Cons:
No WiFi.
Can be hard on the battery life.
Everything is at your finger tips with this phone - nearly all your everyday wants and needs can be accessed from the one screen without having to jump around too many menus. Runs office mobile beautifully and runs Tom Tom navigator really well (needs external GPS receiver).
Will charge from your PC/notebook via USB whilst sync'ing.

hmmm, no WiFi, though it does have 3G. I’ve seen that a few times – either WifI, or 3G.

At least with 3G you’ll have access everywhere (in theory). I’d look for something compatible with Optus/Telstra 3G. And I’d avoid Three till they get network fixed : )

Just curious, what's wrong with Three's network?

In my experience, the 3G coverage is limited, and you run into excess charges in these situations with Three. That said, I hear they're upgrading their network

Don't 3 connections roam to telstra when there aren't any 3 towers available?

Do they roam to 3g speeds, or slower?

Yup, they roam to non-3G, and you've got to pay extra for the privilege (of slower speeds).

A hugely likeable phone that excels at web browsing and manages to just live up to its ambitious name.

Well made, lots of goodies and an improved interface make this the best touch-only phone from HTC so far.

The HTC Magic, available through Vodafone and Three in Australia, may be the second Android phone but it's the first worth considering.

Sumptuous design, a fantastic screen and a high-quality feel. Not as easy to use as an iPhone, but far more powerful
