"Fast paced modern warfare style FPS"

Pros:
Beautiful graphics, appropriately challenging gameplay, excellent variety of well designed levels in which to kill...

Cons:
A relatively short game, 10-15 hours on normal mode.
Need a semi-decent rig to get the most out of the graphics.
I really enjoyed this action packed FPS. The level design is incredible with a massive variety of cool locations and wicked scripted events. There is ample ammo for those that are annoyed by shortages in other similar games, take for instance the first 'sniping level' which gives you 100 bullets right off the bat for all the one-shot-killing you can handle. The enemies are smarter than usual and quickly hone in on your position and enjoy lobbing grenades up your camping self if you linger too long. The beginning tutorial measures your skill to recommend a difficulty level which is a nice concept. Give this game a whirl and I'm sure you won't be disapoointed.

 The singleplayer is great, albeit very short.

The multiplayer is fun to play during office hours though.


What do you think about the PC Authority article Call of Duty 4: ?

 Single Player was definately one of the best I have ever played through,
havn't really had a chance to get into multiplayer as of yet.
I still give CoD2 multiplayer a run though =P

 CoD4 singleplayer was good fun (especially the Chernoybl bit.. although all it did was remind me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.).

The only thing that got me though, I played and finished Crysis before playing CoD4, and it seemed like a step backward. Crysis you can destroy absolutely everything, and you can interact with everything, whereas in this, you can't do much at all besides blow up a car and kill people.

Just seemed like a backwards step in technology to me. Maybe I should've played CoD4 first.

Still an awesome game though don't get me wrong. Too bad CoD5 is going to be crap.

 Played the COD4 demo not 2 bad at all, albeit pretty linear is, the full any better? plan on buying,mainly for the multiplayer.
As for a step backwards, I'm still playing Deltaforce Extreme,love the open terrains

 The full version is pretty much the same as the demo I guess. Just bigger setpieces and more extravagant explosions.

 COD4

Excellent Single-Player Campaign, especially the levels in the Helicopter using the Infra-Reds and the Heat Seekers, and also the level where you have to take out Isaac Zachaiev, or however it is spelt.

Multiplayer is one of the major drawbacks to this game. I mean, shooting through walls is cool in the single-player campaign, giving a feeling of skill, but in multiplayer this causes major camping. A camper with a singleshot could watch you run behind a wall and take you out through that wall. I mean c'mon! Get some skill. A total noob could run around with an assault rifle and just spam walls hoping to kill someone. IT TAKES NO SKILL TO SHOOT THROUGH A WALL!

Single-Player Friendly: Yes
Multiplayer Friendly: Only if you can live with being camped!!

Overall:

Graphics: 9/10 (wounds when hitting enemys could be nicer, so could the explosion when you kill one with a grenade or claymore)

Storyline: 10/10 (Excellent Story, assasinating a world-wide wanted man....Sounds like fun)

Sound: 9/10 (The explosions were a bit soft if you were just far enough away not to be hit)

Overall Mark Average: 9.3/10

Best LAN game EVER. Maps in the desert are just brilliant. I can't remember the name of it as I haven't played it in ages, but the map with the white houses where you run around on the roof tops was the best multiplayer map I've ever played.

I haven't bought CoD4 yet - been holding off until I have time again to play games. Don't know when that will be though :(
