LaCie has announced new RAID devices for Windows and Mac OS computers.
LaCie has announced two new RAID devices available in Australia for Windows and Mac OS computers.

As USB 2.0 or Firewire 400 or 800 connected enclosures, the new LaCie 2big Triple devices support RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (redundant backup) and JBOD between two hot-swappable drives.

Two models are available, with different capacities: The LaCie 2big Triple 301254 with 1TB capacity and the LaCie 2big Triple 301256 with 2TB capacity.


LaCie 2big Triple 301254
Specifications: 1TB capacity; 91mm x 200mm x 172mm; 2x FireWire 800 ports, 1x FireWire 400 port, 1x USB 2.0 port; blue shortcut button launches backup application of choice; thermoregulated cooling system with smart fan; 3 years limited warranty; 2.6kg
Price: $629 (inc GST)

LaCie 2big Triple 301256
Specifications: 2TB capacity; 91mm x 200mm x 172mm; 2x FireWire 800 ports, 1x FireWire 400 port, 1x USB 2.0 port; blue shortcut button launches backup application of choice; thermoregulated cooling system with smart fan; 3 years limited warranty; 2.6kg
Price: $1,349 (inc GST)

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks, a way of chaining multiple hard drives together to increase data redundancy, or raw input/output performance. JBOD stands for Just a Bunch of Disks, a simple way of adding multiple disks together to make one large storage entity, without particular performance or data redundancy advantages.
