Software allows mobiles to view full web pages.
Microsoft has released a first beta of a new web browser for mobile devices called "Deepfish".
The browser touts the ability to display web-pages in their entirety. Current mobile browsers such as the mobile version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer often fail to properly display web sites because of mobile device's small screen sizes. Mobile browsers instead have to resort to specially designed mobile web pages.
In order to allow users to view full-sized pages on a mobile screen, Deepfish will use a zooming feature that allows users to view a portion of the page at full size.
The zooming feature will also help speed up mobile browsing because the browser will only download the segments of the website that are zoomed. This results in smaller load pieces and cuts down on the overall load time.
Web page zooming is fast becoming a prominent feature amongst the upcoming generation of mobile devices. Apple's iPhone uses a similar system for its Safari mobile browser, and a Microsoft-backed firm called ZenZui plans to develop mobile software based on Microsoft's zooming technology.
Microsoft has made the beta availalbe to a limited number of downloaders and has already reached its cap. Those who were able to obtain a copy of the browser shouldn't expect much at this point. Deepfish currently doesn't support Ajax, Javascript, ActiveX, Cookies, and POST HTTP.
