Sony has unveiled a Vaio Business brand in an attempt to increase its appeal to Japanese business users.

The first fruit of the new brand is an ultra-light 12.1in 'Type G' Vaio which Sony claims is the world's lightest notebook computer.

Weighing just 898g, the device features a lightweight carbon body and promises six hours of battery life.

In addition to the device's portability, Sony has created a services bundle that aims to further appeal to business users.

The new notebook will start shipping in Japan by December starting at 215,000 Yen (about US$1,850). Sony does not have any plans to ship the machine in other countries.
