Shopping.com today launched its Australian site. The online shopping site launches with over 200 Australian retailers and features a comparison engine allowing multiple products to be compared by shoppers.

Shopping.com is a leader in the online comparison shopping field and was launched in the U.S. in 1997. The Australian launch provides a localised search, with Shopping.com claiming over half a million products in its listings.

Australian shoppers have taken to online shopping more readily that already impressive global trends. Last year 87% of Australian consumers purchased good online, compared to a 77% global average.

Lorrie Norrington, Shopping.com's president and CEO said during a visit to Australia for the launch "As e-commerce grows in Australia, more mainstream shoppers than ever before are turning to the internet for the best product selection and price."
