Games for Change Festival coming to Melbourne

Games for Change Festival coming to Melbourne

RMIT's GEELab is hosting a great weekend exploring how gaming can impact real world social problems.

The Games for Change Festival is a staple New York event, focusing on how gaming can help address real social issues, in order for a positive change to our society. For the first time, the festival's coming to Australia, hosted by RMIT University's GEELab.

The festival goes for two days (November 16 & 17), at the BMW Edge Theatre at Federation Square in Melbourne (damn you, Melniboneans, and your awesome gaming events!). Guests will include Heather Kelley and Japanese game director and generally awesome guy, Keita Takahashi, as well as speakers from World Vision and the State Library of Victoria.

There are 35 local and international speakers in total, and the actual speaking part of the event is admittendly a but pricey - Early Bird tickets are still available for $575, Student tickets are $495, and the rest of us have to fork out $795.

However, there's a host of free outdoor gaming events for the public on the at the same time, at the Games Arcade at Fed Square.
