Ahead of any kind of barest hint about next-gen consoles, Sony has gone ahead and announced three new models of PlayStation 3 at its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference.
Images of the consoles first linked a couple of days, via a Polish site that had laid eyes on some store marketing material, and now local Kotaku scribe Mark Serrels has scored shots that appear to be from the show floor.
The new, smaller and lighter consoles will come in 500GB and 250GB models, and there were also some rumours of oddly small models that haven't yet been confirmed, and could well have been translation errors.
No news yet on local pricing, but the units are expected to be out on October 4 (White), and November 22 (for the black). Huh - the black ones must take longer to paint, or something.
UPDATE: We've just learned about local pricing and availability. It looks like we won't be getting the 250GB model, but will be getting a special 12GB flash memory model. They'll be priced at $399.95 and $299.95 respectively, and launched together on September 27.
