It's taken a long time, but Games Workshop has well and truly discovered the iPad. The maker of tabletop wargames such as Warhammer 40,000 has been releasing many gaming products on the iPad over the last few months. A number of rules additions and gamebooks have been released to the iBooks store, and now an entire classic game - Warhammer Quest - is being developed for release next year.
Warhammer Quest is nearly 20 years old, but it's getting full revision for iOS courtesy of developer Rodeo Games. The old boardgame was a colourful dungeon adventure, with players controlling a party of plastic heroes as they took on all manner of evils from the Warhammer Fantasy world in a quest for riches and glory.
The iPad version is looking to fully update the game in top down 3D, based on the original art assets for the game. It's coming next year, but an early version will be presented at this year's GW Games Day UK next month.
Now, if GW can just get someone to work on an iPad version of Space Hulk, I'll be a happy little nerd. You can see some early screens on today's Games Workshop blog post.
