Heavy Gear coming back to PCs - and mobile devices too!

It's the year of the Mecha, as the other great pen and paper mech setting is getting another video game revival.

Heavy Gear is the other white meat of mecha-based gaming systems, pulbished by Dream Pod 9. More inspired by modern anime than Battletech (though early editions stole shamelessly from sources like Robotech and Macross), Heavy Gear combined a unique look and feel to its mechs, or 'gears', and consisted of a range of games covering RPGs and miniatures titles.

There were a couple of video games, too, which - from memory - where a lot of fun.

Well, it seems that new game developer on the block Stompy Bot has similarly good memories, and it's announced that it has secured the rights to publish new games on PC, mobile devices, and consoles.
