It's a grim reality in gaming journalism circles that Game Informer gets ALL the big breaks. Atomic's actually lost cover art, even features, because of the pull that this publishing giant exerts. Now, Game Informer AU's just announced that it's next issue is going on sale a day late - because of a massive 'worldwide reveal'.
"The Cover - So usually by now I would have uploaded the cover of the next issue. As it stands, the next issue's cover must remain a secret. It is part of a worldwide reveal that cannot be spoken about or shown until 4pm on the 14th of August."
The announcement was made on the Game Informer Facebook page yesterday, and to say it's gotten folks curious... hell, even we're kind of intrigued.
Could it be Half Life 3? If there's one game that would have the kind of global pull to delay issue sales on the biggest gaming mag in the world, Valve's next shooter could be it. A lot of others think it might be a case of over-hype, and just be a reveal of more info on something like Battlefield 4 or Grand Theft Auto V.
However, it also times well with Gamescom, so perhaps it is a wholey new game after all. It could be a console reveal, but the note refers to 'the publisher', so I'm think it's a game, not hardware. Maybe it's Blizzard's next MMO, or gosh. Could be anything.
But Half Life 3 would make me a happy gamer. What do you guys think?
