THQ ditches Guillermo del Toro's Insane

Mysterious game Insane the latest victim of belt-tightening at THQ, in the company's ongoing crusade to focus on core properties.

Man, it must suck to be working on anything challenging at THQ at the moment. Basically, it seems if you're not working on a sequel, or a surefire franchise, you're gone. The company has been bravely struggling to stay on track for a while now, and following the latest frist quarter fiscal report, the most recent victim is a game called Insane.

To be honest, I'd forgotten this game even existed. It was announced at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards, but all that was really known about it was that the teaser had tentacles and yelling (and little else). Now, we may never know.

That said, the rights to the game have gone back to del Toro, so maybe he can swing it to another publisher.

Insanity aside, THQ remains confident it's on the right track. While the company continues to operate at a loss, the slide definitely seems to be arrested - which can only be a good thing for the existing THQ properties.
