So a lot of folks are in a warm, rapturous, nostalgic glow over the news that retro shooter Rise of the Triad is getting a reboot. Fair enough; I get the raw appeal of 'old stuff'. Everything was better then, right? And, surely, there's nothing that can go wrong with taking a game out of its context and simply updating the graphics, right?
And yet, I give you Duke Nukem Forever.
Call me a stick in the mud and Deputy Mayor of NoFunnington (I know the Mayor of NoFunnington - she's an awesome gal), but I'm just not getting a good vibe from this first reveal trailer. Though I do dig some of the neat gun tricks - even I'm not immune to that.
But smarmy comments from the protagonist just make the game seem so... dated!
What do you guys think?
