Pebble reveals fourth smartwatch colour – and delayed release date

Pebble reveals fourth smartwatch colour – and delayed release date

You can now get your e-paper smartwatch in orange – when it eventually turns up

The Pebble smartwatch is proving popular – almost too popular. Demand for the e-paper watch that talks to your iPhone or Android phone over Bluetooth has been so high that the Pebble team has had to put back its planned September release date.

That's understandable, given that Pebble Technology based its September launch date on the assumption that it would be shipping about 1,000 watches – and instead it's eyeing a production run of 85,000. So the team has had to come up with a schedule that puts them "on track to go from manufacturing zero to 15,000 Pebbles per week as soon as possible."

To soften the blow, the Pebble team has also revealed the mystery fourth colour Pebble watch – a rather fetching orange. We'll stick with the black.
