Telstra has been upping the ante with mobile Internet performance since introducing their 4G network, the fastest mobile data network in the country. From tomorrow, they're adding a pre-paid 4G hotspot that will deliver Internet connectivity over 4G to up to five WiFi-only devices.
Telstra already offers a Mobile Wi-Fi 4G hotspot (read our review), but the new white version is pre-paid, meaning you can avoid monthly charges so you only pay for the service when you need it.
The new Telstra Pre-Paid Wi-Fi 4G weighs 105 grams and has up to up to four hours of battery life. It will works with any Wi-Fi enabled device so you can use it to connect your tablet and laptop. If you have a small work group, you can all share the one device rather than pay for several separate services for each device.
The Telstra Pre-Paid Wi-Fi 4G will be available from Tuesday 17 July for $169 and includes 5GB of data to use in Australia within the first 30 days. You can recharge the service as required.
Recharge denominations vary with the cheapest being $20 which gives 250MB of data that need to be used within 21 days. $180 gives 12GB of data with a 365 day expiry. A list of current rates can be found at Telstra's website.
