Virgin Mobile “simplifies” post-paid plans, spruiks 4G

Telco reduces post-paid plans from nine to five while confirming its 4G services will be available “this year”

In addition to launching a new marketing campaign entitled “Fair Go Bro” – starring Brad Pitt’s brother Doug – Virgin Mobile has announced it has reduced the number options in its post-paid offerings from nine to five.

The plans are available across Virgin’s entire handset range – users simply pick the phone they want on the plan that suits their needs or budget.

Plans range from $29 per month for $450 of credit and 250MB of data, up to $89 for unlimited local calls and text with 4GB of data. The full range including all credit and data allowances can be seen here. Users bringing an existing handset will save $10 on the monthly costs. Virgin also announced that it was reducing its excess data rate on post-paid plans to 20.5c/MB.

Speaking on 4G, Virgin Mobile’s head of product marketing Derek Cummins confirmed that the telco’s LTE rollout had begun and that Virgin would offer 4G plans “this year”.
