Apple reveals new MacBook Air lineup at WWDC 2012

The Cupertino tech giant has lifted the curtains off its new lineup of MacBook Airs, but there's no Retina Display to be found.

Apple has lifted the curtains off its new 2012 line of MacBooks, and contrary to the rumours, there's no Retina Display to be found (that honour is reserved for the brand new next-generation MacBook Pro).

Unsurprisingly, Intel's latest generation Ivy Bridge processors will be powering the refreshed MacBook Air models, with up to 2.0GHz of dual-core i5 or i7 power up for grabs, with Intel's Turbo Boost technology able to push up to 3.7GHz of processing power.

Combined with up to 8GB of RAM, Apple is promising up to 60 per cent faster graphics, with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, and both 13in and 11in models will be available – the former with a 1440x900 screen and the latter with a 1366x768 display.

An updated 720p front-facing camera for HD FaceTime goodness is also on the cards, along with a Thunderbolt port and a pair of USB 3.0 ports for some nippy data transfer speeds.

Prices will start from $1099 for the base 11in model, which has a five hour battery life, and all the way up to $1,689 for the top end 13in model.

If you fancy a shiny new MacBook Air with Intel's latest silicon powering the show then you'll be glad to hear that they'll be shipping from today.
