Here we go again: Apple calls for Samsung Galaxy S III ban

Apple asks US district court to temporarily ban sales of the Galaxy S III.

Apple is seeking a sales injunction against the Samsung Galaxy S III with the U.S. District Court for Northern California. If accepted, the request would see the Galaxy S III temporarily banned from sale across the USA.

In an echo of last year's highly-publicised legal battle, Apple is accusing the South Korean conglomerate of infringing on two patents relating to the iPhone.

"Apple has been able to obtain the Galaxy S III sold in the United Kingdom and determined that this device clearly infringes at least two of the Apple patents," the company said in its filing.

The patents in question concern data-tapping functions and the ability to use a single search function for multiple data searches.

Samsung has already responded publically, claiming that Apple's request is without merit. "[We will] demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive," the company said in a statement.

Available in Australia from last week, the Galaxy S III is expected to launch in the US on June 21.
