Sony unveils T Series Ivy Bridge Ultrabooks

Sony launches a new series of Vaio Ultrabooks using the Ivy Bridge chipset from Intel.

Just hours ahead of Intel's own Ivy Bridge launch in Sydney, Sony unveiled its T Series of Vaio Ultrabooks featuring the new mobile chipset.

The T Series will come in both 11.6in and 13.3in varieties. Dimensions vary but the 13.3in model measures 323 x 226 x 17.8mm and weighs 1.6kg. Connectivity is key to Sony's strategy for the T Series, with VGA, Ethernet and HDMI ports all squeezed into the Ultrabook form factor. The chassis is brushed metal and the screen has a unusually large bezel.

Specs will vary across the 11.6 and 13.3in range, with both Core i5 and i7 processors being used. The top of the line model for the 13.3in screen will have Core i7 with a 256GB SSD. A 128GB SSD and a hybrid drive will also be available.

Pricing will range from $1099 for entry models up to $1899 for the top line units.
