Sony unveils gamer-focused Pulse Wireless Stereo headset

“Elite Edition” PlayStation headset comes with beefier bass and 7.1 virtual surround sound.

Just ahead of next week’s E3 conference, Sony has unveiled a new PlayStation accessory: the Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset – Elite Edition.

Due to go on sale in the autumn (priced at US$149.99) the Pulse is aimed at the enthusiast PS3 and PS Vita user, and combines 7.1-channel surround sound with “BassImpact” tech to deliver what Sony describes as “an unprecedented level of immersion”.

It includes a 3.5mm audio cable for hooking up to phones, MP3 players and what have you, and from the images looks to rock some fairly heavy padding on the earcups.
