Weatherproof Pentax DSLR?

Weatherproof Pentax DSLR?

French catalogue seemingly leaks details of new climate-sealed, 1080p compatible 16-megapixel DSLR.

It’s yet to be formally announced, but it seems there’s a new Pentax DSLR poised for launch. Engadget reports that the Pentax K-30 has been glimpsed in a French catalogue, and it looks like an entry-level model.

According to the blurb, the K-30 is a 16-megapixel model with a maximum ISO of 25600, 4fps continuous shooting and full 1080p HD video recording. Like other Pentax DSLRs, you can power it with AA batteries should you wish. Perhaps the most interesting revelation is that it’s the only DSLR in its category that is “tropicalisé” – which means climate sealed or weatherproofed. It’s €799 with an 18-55mm kit lens.

All in all, it sounds fairly similar the existing Pentax K-r – aside from the video being 1080p instead of 720p and the weather resistance – so we’d expect some other new features that aren’t mentioned in this ad. We’ll keep you posted if and when Pentax actually confirms the K-30’s existence.
