If there's one game, one franchise that makes owning a 360 - at least for me - an essential part of my gaming environment, it's Halo.
Call me controversial, but if I had to pick a single console series to take away to a desert island, it'd probably be the one with the most power armour, and that's Halo hands down. I would also then punch whoever's forcing me onto a desert island, but that's neither here nor there.
So, I'm a little excited about Halo 4. But, aslo, a little... trepidatious. I mean, it's not Bungie! Sure, 343 could do a great job, but, for now, we just don't know for sure. That said, if I were a pre-ordering man, I'd probably be pre-ordering with the best of them right now, and I'd almost certainly be aiming for the Limited Edition. What's it got?
War Games Map Pack Access – The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps – three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE.
(A detailed release schedule for the map packs will be announced at a later time)
Specialisations – Receive early access to six Specialisations, available at launch on Xbox LIVE, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career. In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specialisations unlock new customisation options. Purchasers of the “Halo 4” Limited Edition will get access on launch day, while others will have to wait as Specialisations are released over time.
The Limited Edition also contains the UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet, which includes an armor customisation schematic, a blueprint of the massive ship itself, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity’s finest warriors: the Spartan-IVs.
Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE:
Unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin
Unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle
An exclusive in-game emblem
Xbox LIVE Avatar prop
Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan-IV armor set
“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” Special Edition – An extended 90-minute version of the live-action digital series that will bring the “Halo” universe to life as you’ve never seen it, and provide an enthralling backstory leading up to the events of “Halo 4.”
“Halo 4” Limited Edition also includes the following exclusive videos:
Bonus in-fiction content expanding the characters and stories of
“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn”
Special Featurette: Bringing Gaming into Reality
Making of “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn”
90 minute live action Halo? Yes! Forward Unto Dawn will be out in October, in five episodes produced by veterans of film, TV, and new media creation. The series will be a prequel to the entire game.
We also have some sexy new screens - suspiciously jaggy-free screens, if you ask me, but perhaps I'm reading too much into things. Or, maybe it means there's going to be a surprise PC announcement! No? I can dream...
If it's as good as any of the previous live action trailers and ads... Hmm. Maybe I should pre-order!
