More news in GAME Australia's voluntary administration, and how it affects Diablo III pre-orders. We've just gotten the official statement from one of the partners handling the action. Here it is in full:
The Administrators of GAME Australia have today announced the limited release of Diablo III to customers who have pre-ordered in certain GAME stores across the country. Kate Warwick, joint Administrator said "I regret that Diablo III isn't available across the whole network of stores and to all customers who have pre-ordered, however the stock on hand represents the total stock ordered prior to the appointment of Voluntary Administrators yesterday and unfortunately, there are insufficient funds on hand to purchase any additional copies".
Mrs Warwick also advised that all affected customers should contact the GAME store where they initially made the order to check whether the release has been received. If Diablo III is in store it will be available to pick up from today, however if it is not available, customers who have prepaid part or all of their order are directed to the GAME website which includes instructions on how to submit a claim to the Administrator.
We've been hearing mixed reports from readers on the issue, so it's best you contact your store right away. But, long story short, if you've put money down and your copy hasn't shown up, you are effectively now a creditor; and, sadly, likely the bottom of the list, compared to major suppliers like local publishers, staff, and the rest.
