It’s easy to forgive The Creative Assembly for so-so titles such as Viking: Battle for Asgard and Stormrise because of the strength of their still-incredible Total War series. Hell, such is the strength of the goodwill thanks to their gift of the Total War series that they could be forgiven for just about any gaming travesty.
So when Gamerzines spied a couple of job openings at The Creative Assembly for a new Alien game, the goodwill scale tipped even further into the green. The job page is offering three positions—games tester, senior games tester and multiplayer/gameplay programmer—and there’s even a familiar Alien egg image on the games page of The Creative Assembly’s website. The only revelation outside of the existence of a new Alien game is that it’s being developed for “current and future generation consoles”. I guess that rules out the possibility of Alien: Total War, then. Dammit!
Considering that SEGA is currently publishing the Gearbox Software-forged Aliens: Colonial Marines, it will be interesting to see what type of game The Creative Assembly are forging in the Alien universe. Here’s to hoping an official announcement also lists PC as one of the platforms, too.
Prediction: it’s going to be a first-person shooter, with The Creative Assembly and Gearbox Software developing alternate yearly released titles set in the Alien universe. On second thoughts, please don’t let that be the case.
