AMD cards drop in price, but still cost WAY more than elsewhere

Better late than never, we have confirmation of local price drops on AMD's HD 7970, HD 7950 and 7770. But is it enough?

They say time moves fast in computing, but if there's one area it moves slow, it's getting actual information out of the local arms of various hardware vendors. In this case, when news started trickling about the internet of a price drop on recent iterations of AMD's graphics cards, we were onto their local reps right away.

That was back on the 20th of last month... Sigh.

Anyway, we finally have confirmation, and it's looking like a lot of these price shifts have already trickled down into the market. However, if you've not been actively shopping around, this still might be good to know. The top-end 7970 has come down $579, the 7950 is $479 and the lower end 7770 is a mere $169.

These local prices, however, are up to $100 more expensive than US pricing. What a coincidence...

On top of the price drops, AMD's also announced rather shiny new game bundles for the 7970 and 7950 cards. Both will now come with Dirt Showdown, Nexuiz and Deus Ex: Human Revolution (with The Missing Link DLC), so you can take advantage of shiny DX11 graphics right away with your new purchase.
