I recently had the pleasure of some hands-on time with Mr Payne on PC, and he handled extremely well. There was also a fair amount of onscreen pretty, even though the build I was playing on was a couple of months old. For the full skinny on how Max Payne 3 plays on PC, check out David Hollingworth’s preview here.
One of the coolest things about the PC version of Max Payne 3 was that our local Rockstar PR rep explained that it was being developed alongside the console version. In short: the PC version of Max Payne 3 ain’t no console port. Today, the game’s official website has confirmed this by saying that Max Payne 3 is being forged “in parallel with the game’s console versions”. Sure, this means we have to wait a few weeks longer than consolers to play the game, but having seen the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Max Payne 3, I know which platform I’m looking forward to Maxing on most.
The website also confirms that Max Payne 3 will offer DirectX11 support (including tessellation) along with “a number of additional advanced graphics options and is optimized to run across a wide range of PC setups.” To sweeten the news, Rockstar has also announced some PC specification range which they say “will run great on the entire range of specs” listed below.
