Nikon D3200 beginner DSLR packs 24.2MP

Even an entry level DSLR is going to be good when it comes from Nikon

Nikon has unveiled its new entry level DSLR, the D3200, but just because it's affordable doesn’t mean you’re missing out on quality. In the ever-waging pixel war the D3200 comes out swinging with an impressive 24.2MP CMOS sensor.

But the image powers go further with the super fast EXPEED 3 processor that gives you an extended ISO range, over the older D3100, of between 100 and 6400. This should make low light photography a breeze while the Active D-Lighting function automatically balances images should you need to shoot into backlit conditions. And the four frames per second shooting will make light work of action scenes. All of these modes can use Nikon's 11-point autofocus system to make sure every scene delivers clear shots – ideal for the beginner this model is aimed at.

Nikon’s D3200 can double as your camcorder too with 1080p video recorded at 30p, 25p or 24p. And using the optional extra WU-1a wireless adapter you can control the camera – viewing its screen remotely – from your Android or iOS device.

The Nikon D3200 will be out mid-May and is expected to cost around $700 (body only).
