Stupid users. It's a cliché, but something we've been thinking about since reading this post on Slashdot, linking to a story about users freaking out about deleting the Internet, someone remotely controlling their desktop and so on.
If you work with technology, then you likely deal with this stuff just about every week. It's not hard to find SysAdmins having a gripe - like these ones.
But what is your attitude to user incompetence? We got a real mix of responses when we asked if you were happy to help friends and family with computers. "I am not a charity," was one comment.
When you're paid to deal with this stuff, you don't always have a choice. So where does that leave you?
Many people we know who work in IT are technology enthusiasts in their free time. We're willing to bet for more than a few of you, it's that curiosity that led you down this path.
But where has that left you? Do you still feel the same way about technology, or has your job sucked some of the enjoyment out of it? What do you get out of working with technology?
