Spaceships powered by 16-bit computers? That's the core of 0x10c, and we're pretty damn excited by it all.

I've always been a little leary of Minecraft. Not because I don't like it, but rather because I think I could lose way more time than would be healthy in it. However, I'm damning those torpedoes of caution when it comes to Notch's (the man behind Minecraft) next game, 0x10c.

Sure, it's not a word of mouth friendly name, but the concept made of hard SF gold. It's the far future, space ships run on primitive generators and 16-bit computers, and it's all about managing power to all your ship's components.

Oh, and looting. Lots of looting. Here's the main points of the game from the official site:

  • Hard science fiction.
  • Lots of engineering.
  • Fully working computer system.
  • Space battles against the AI or other players.
  • Abandoned ships full of loot.
  • Duct tape!
  • Seamlessly landing on planets.
  • Advanced economy system.
  • Random encounters.
  • Mining, trading, and looting.
  • Single and multi player connected via the multiverse.

He had us at Duct Tape.
