Antivirus: If you're going to pay, you might as well pickup a deal

Antivirus: If you're going to pay, you might as well pickup a deal

Plenty of our readers swear by free antivirus. But for those that prefer to pay for a commercial product, here's an offer.

We remember a time when the standard price for most of the big name security suites was around the $100 mark or thereabouts. Now, you can dig up all sorts of cashback offers and discounts.

Case in point: Norton 360. Despite the hammering we and many others have given in the past Norton, we've been fairly pleased with what we've seen in the past year or two.

We've spotted a few sites offering a $60 cashback offer for Norton 360 v6.0 with a 3-user license. If you're prepared to go the extra yards and actually bother with cashbacks, then you'll find it at Harris Technology for $108 before the cashback, and over at eStore.com.au for $111. By comparison it's $129 on the Dick Smith site.

Here's where the world of online "sales" gets interesting. We also spotted Norton Internet Security 2012 with a 3 user license at Dick Smith for $84. We've reviewed this in the latest issue of PC & Tech Authority magazine (the May 2012 issue) and gave it four out of six stars. Not perfect, but overall it's well-featured.

Cheaper again is this 1-user license of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 for $45. We've also reviewed it in the latest issue and gave it five out of six stars.
