Okay, I got nothin' - I really can't work out if this is an April Fools joke that was announced two days early, or actually happening. And if it is actually happening, I can't work out if it's awesome or just plain wrong.
Anyway, the news... there be Dragons in the upcoming Wargaming.net title, World of Warplanes.
Yep, wings, scales and firey breath, it's all there, according to the release that went out late on Friday, and the official site. There's even a mess of screens of the great beasts ripping classic fighter planes all kinds of new ones.
Wargaming.net's even published the tech-tree for the Dragons, and it's kinda funny. Each of the dragon types is named after a dragon from great fantasy novels and games. So we've got Smaus the Golden, riffing on Smaug from the Hobbit, and Lifewing, the Lifegiver, riffing on World of Warcraft, and even Andarast, which is a nice reference to a personal fantasy fave, the Malazan Books of the Dead.
But still... really? Dragons? Are we going to get trolls in World of Tanks? Leviathans in World of Battleships? Huh... that might be neat...
