Intel Ivy Bridge to arrive in April?

Reports suggest the Ivy Bridge processor will be arriving in April, including Core i7s and a Core i5 chip.

Intel looks set to unveil its next generation Ivy Bridge processors this April, followed by another batch in June. Several Core i7s and and a single Core i5 will be the first to get unleashed, according to Taiwanese industry news publication, Digitimes, with the i3 coming later in August.

The story doesn't provide any indication as to whether these are desktop or mobile processors - we expect that additions to Ivy Bridge like DirectX 11 graphics will make a massive impact in the mobile space, especially with Windows 8 just around the corner.

By shrinking the CPUs to 22nm and introducing the new Tri-Gate transistor technology, Intel should see Ivy Bridge deliver better performance for the next generation of ultrabooks as well as better battery life.
