Report: iPhone 5 may launch on June 10

Save the date... Apple's curved 4in beauty to be unveiled at its annual developer conference, according to the Commercial Times.

The iPhone 5 has been eluding the public’s hungry eye for some time now, but fears that we'll have to wait until autumn are being given the cold shoulder by a rumour mill that's increasingly insistent on a summer release. The latest mutterings, from a tipster quoted in the Commercial Times, suggests Apple will launch its next smartphone at its annual worldwide developer conference (WWDC), backing a recent leak from Foxconn suggesting a summer release.

That fits with Apple's traditional iPhone launch plan, moved last year to September (a time of year more usually associated with iPod refreshes). If Apple were to launch the device at WWDC 2012, it'd make the likely date of disclosure June 10 – the tentative first day of the conference, and the time when Apple CEO Tim Cook would take to the stage for his keynote.

Apple may then use its September event to announce new iPod stock, such as the iPod Nano Camera we saw earlier.

I presume it is NOT the glass that's curved? Otherwise they'll just LOVE the reflections from the '70s-style Convex screen, and it would be hard to pick up.

So, it looks to have a curved back to me - is that what others see?

Nice release - near the announced? release date of the advanced Galaxy s3 - interesting.

We'll see soon enough if 'curvy thing that rocks to and fro when you put it down' wins over a practical, attractive design with an even larger screen.

If the G3 pix are true, it seems to have little or no increase in phone external dimensions - just evolution of an already excellent phone - the G2. Way beyond the gimmick stage now.

Photo, Samsung could make their phone round and not even able to make calls and you'd still call it revolutionary and the best.

It would not matter how good an iPhone was, you'd still be bitching about it and claiming Samsung was better.

Bulldust, AM. Being practical (instead of an apologist) for a moment:

While I'm sure it will be quite OK hand held, that curved back will make it hard to use if you want to set it down and push a few buttons - say to use any app like a calculator, look up an address/number when beside the PC, anything you DON'T want to pick the phone up - whatever. I guess you can fix it with a special $70 cradle ...

Are you saying that you never set the phone down whilst doing something else?

Time to be a little practical, perhaps? It is bugger al;l to do with Samsung, mate.
For now they make the phone I and many like best - and we are not teenagers who simply MUST have the latest iThing - are we? It probably won't affect me unless it has something I really must have ...

Actually one of the things I like about my 4s. It's totally flat and can be used hands free, calc, whatever you want.

I don't need a fancy curved back, that really does nothing practical. I could see the benefit of a curved front bringing the mic a little closer or similar.

Yes like a HP Calc and alxo galaxies - flat and stable is good, feet or 'points' is better for non smooth surfaces.
Of my HPs, my 12c rocks a little. Just a wee bit, but it is really annoying, so the 41 gets more use :)

Curved glass is a mixed bag for reflections convex is awful mate, have a look at an old TV or monitor - it's a pain and we are all pretty spoiled now.

I think the new nexus is slightly curved, concave though which seemed to reduce reflections, nice, but I'm not convinced ...
