HTC Edge and Ville specs keep on leaking

HTC Edge and Ville specs keep on leaking

Exclusive: our source at HTC has revealed some more tasty specs for future smartphones we might see at MWC.

HTC Ville exclusive specs mobile world congress

HTC is throwing everything it's got at Mobile World Congress if the latest drops of top-secret gadget info squeezed from our insider are to be believed.

The HTC Ville, which has just cropped up in a video on HTC Hub (screenshot above), will be powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, run HTC Sense 4.0 on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at launch and appear in a slim 7.95mm, curved aluminium unibody at the smartphone showcase in Barcelona.

Both the Edge and Ville will pack identical 8MP snappers with a wide angle lens, and the same f/ 2.0 aperture that we revealed for the cheaper HTC Primo – in theory that set-up should allow the new HTC phones to take better snaps in low light than the iPhone 4S.

Also handy are up to 5 flash settings, a burst mode and group shot mode which lets you stitch together more than one 'take'. Video-wise, the HTC Edge and Ville will shoot 1080p video with slow motion skills and also a dual shutter to take stills while you shoot.

Both the HTC Edge and Ville will come packing Beats Audio tech, like their younger sibling, the HTC Primo, but our source tells us that we won't get an extra treat of Beats headphones bundled in with either of these two high-end offerings.

If you cough up for a HTC Media Link II streamer too (which we're guessing HTC will announce at the same time as the new handsets) you'll be able to swipe and push movies from the HTC Ville and HTC Edge onto your TV via DLNA. It sounds similar to Apple's AirPlay mirroring set-up with a dual screen mode for scanning your emails while you watch – and maybe a new HTC Flyer to complete the picture?

We're not sure of Australian prices just yet but the good news is that our mole tells us HTC is planning to undercut Apple by slapping a cheaper price sticker on the Ville, and possibly even the Edge/Supreme too. Roll on hands-on time at Mobile World Congress.
