LG readies the CX2 and Optimus 3D successor

LG readies the CX2 and Optimus 3D successor

It sounds like LG has gone back to the drawing board as it readies its second attempt at a 3D smartphone.

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of an HD screen-toting quad-core beast dubbed the LG X3 at MWC, comes news of a second attempt from LG at a 3D smartphone. Dubbed the CX2, which is thought to be a codename, it appears LG is once again attempting to lure us into 3D smartphone territory.

Specs are thin on the ground, but the third dimensional blower is rumoured to pack a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of internal memory and boast the same 4.3in WVGA screen as its predecessor, the Optimus 3D (pictured). However, it is thought its screen will be brighter due to the inclusion of a NOVA display, which debuted in LG's Optimus Black and is well known for its brightness and deep blacks.

Other purported specs include a dual 5MP camera set-up 'round the back, NFC capabilities and disappointingly Android Gingerbread straight out of the box.

Mobile world Congress – which takes place in Barcelona next month – looks set to be an exciting event. If you haven't heard the latest, check out our 10 of the best MWC phone rumours.
