IGN: Xbox 720 set to arrive in 2013 with Radeon 6000 graphics

IGN: Xbox 720 set to arrive in 2013 with Radeon 6000 graphics

Next-gen Xbox will be six times faster and six times more powerful than the current Xbox 360, claims IGN report.

According to reports on IGN, the next-gen Xbox 720 will land on a shelf near you come late October or early November in 2013, complete with a GPU based on AMD's Radeon's 6000 series, introduced last year. More specifically, it is thought the graphics will be similar to the Radeon HD 6670, which supports DirectX 11, 1080p HD, multi-display output and 3D.

Of course, this is all just hearsay at the moment, but if these specs are indeed correct, we can look forward to a six times performance increase over the Xbox 360. This will also mean 20 percent more power than the forthcoming Nintendo Wii U, also powered by the R770 chip, and boasts more power than the GPUs residing in both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

As always, we'll update you with concrete news once we get it.

I read this everywhere yesterday. And plus, by the time it comes out, that graphics card will be 2 years old already.

rofl, console gamers wont know any better, they will just think they have the best thing for gaming. 6670 isnt even a great card by todays standard where you have the 6870 and such but gotta cut back on power and size.
Such a shame console games will always look and play half as good as PC games.

I just picked up 3 6850's really cheap ($150 each) to upgrade my kids computers. I wouldn't even consider the 6670 for games now.

The scary part is you can bet that Microsoft will push these for nearly $1k when they are released.
